When you feel like you have nothing left, God can still do something beautiful.
In 1 Kings 17, we meet a widow living in the town of Zarephath. She was gathering sticks for what she thought would be her last meal — just a handful of flour and a little oil for her and her son before they would face certain death from the famine.
It was in that hopeless moment that the prophet Elijah arrived, asking her for bread. At first, her words were full of despair: “I don’t have any bread — only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug.”
But Elijah spoke faith into her heart. He told her, “Don’t be afraid… for this is what the Lord says: The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain.” (1 Kings 17:13–14)
Choosing Faith Over Fear
The widow had a choice — to cling to the little she had in fear, or to release it in faith. She chose faith. She made bread for Elijah first, and in doing so, stepped into a miracle.
From that day until the famine ended, her jar of flour never emptied and her jug of oil never ran dry.
💭 Reflection
Maybe you feel like the widow — down to your last bit of hope, energy, or resources. God is still your Provider. His supply never runs out.
Sometimes the miracle begins when we trust Him with the little we have.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:19)
🙏 Prayer
Lord, when I feel empty, remind me that You are my source. Give me the courage to trust You completely, even when I have very little left. Amen.
